Parallel Logic — OR Conditions

Stack contacts on separate branches instead of one line, and ANY ONE of them becomes enough — this is how ladder logic expresses "OR."

Parallel Wiring = Logical OR

When contacts are wired on separate, parallel branches that all reconnect before the coil, logical power only needs to find a path through ANY ONE of those branches to reach the coil — meaning ANY ONE condition being true is enough. This directly mirrors a physical parallel circuit (Electrical Fundamentals course, Module 1): current can flow through whichever branch is currently closed, completely independent of the other branches' states.

Real-World Multiple-Trigger Example This exact pattern is precisely how a safety alarm system with multiple independent trigger sources is built — a local E-Stop, a remote E-Stop, and a guard door sensor should ALL be able to trigger the same alarm independently, and none of them should require the others to also be active. Parallel (OR) logic is the natural fit whenever "any one of several possible triggers should cause the same result."
